about

In 2014 the band sent some demos to 80s music legend Pat Collier, who produced and recorded so many epic bands such as; The House of Love, Primal Scream, The Sound, The Wonderstuff, and Jesus & Marychain, all of whom continue to inspire the bands music. Sharing a mutual respect for 80s alternative music, Pat could hear the sound the band were looking for and agreed to produce what was to their next single ‘Embers’. Working from his nearby Perry Vale studio in Forest Hill, South East London, they recorded and mixed the track in only two days, with guest organist James McVinnie, who has worked with the likes of Sigur Ros, Alexi Murdoch and Arcade Fire.

lyrics

Help is just around the corner
Is just around the bend
Can't you see I'm getting stronger?

I stand outside on this dark road
Asked the stars for guidance
To lead me home

I'm not afraid I'm not to blame
For the distance that we made
It's just our fight for survival
A way to shield our pain

In different worlds
We're different souls
One born too late
One born to old

Did the smoke get in your eyes?
Or did you just pretend you were alive
It's just the dying of the light
No more to all this bitterness and pride

We said goodbye but made no sound
Just a wave of silence
Then the fire burned out

I couldn't say who was to blame
Just that we had turned a page
Now in this fight for survival
Just the embers remain

In different worlds
We're different souls
One born too late
One born to old

Did the smoke get in your eyes?
Or did you just pretend you were alive
It's just the dying of the light
No more to all this bitterness and pride

Did the smoke get in your eyes?
Or did you just pretend you were alive
It's just the dying of the light
No more to all this bitterness and pride

It's just the dying of the light

Northern Light Exposure London, UK

Northern Light Exposure are a new band from South East London. Wrapped up in a sound that recalls the fuzzed guitarwork of the Doves, the bass driven swagger of the Editors, and the angular melodies of Echo and the Bunnymen, Northern Light Exposure draw them all together in to something taut, shimmering and cinematic. ... more
